In a post on their Medium page, web augmented reality (AR) developer 8th Wall announced that users can now import volumetric capture holograms from Microsoft’s Mixed Reality Capture Studios (MRCS) into high res, low latency experiences.

“We love the quality of the volumetric videos produced by MRCS and the speed at which they load in a web browser is unmatched,” the company said in their post. “It isn’t too far-fetched to assume that we may see sporting events, concerts and even films being reenacted by human holograms on kitchen tables around the world very soon.”

8th Wall’s aim for easy-to-use AR experiences and history in advertising with AR could prompt them to pursue more marketing ventures with a realistic take to them. Similarly, Google has put cycles into web and mobile AR marketing earlier this year with AR Beauty Try-On and Swirl to respectable metrics. By leveraging their existing platform and their partnership with Microsoft, 8th Wall could be broadening their own platform with a comprehensive set of offerings.

“We’re thrilled to partner with 8th Wall, and have been impressed how great our holograms look and play in their WebAR solution,” said Steve Sullivan, General Manager of MRCS. “Such easy and instant access really delivers on the promise of volumetric video for mixed reality anytime, anywhere.”
