Filmed in 8K Ambisonic Audio virtual reality (VR), British Alpinist Jonathan Griffith captured Sherpa Tenji’s harrowing climb to the peak of Mount Everest without the use of bottled oxygen in Everest VR – The Movie Experience.

The 28 year old Nepalese mountaineer has summited Mount Everest without the use of bottled oxygen before, but know seeks to do it again to finish the climb started by his friend and world-famous climber Ueli Steck, who died on April 30th, 2017 during his attempt. According to the press release, Tenji is part of a growing number of Nepalese Sherpas who are breaking out of the mould of traditional Sherpa work, showing the world that they can climb just as well, if not better, than their Western counterparts.
