FeelReal, the company developing multi-sensory virtual reality (VR) masks, launched their Kickstarter yesterday to overwhelming success, smashing their $20,000 goal within one hour.

“We are extremely grateful to everyone who have supported our campaign so far. With the overwhelming support from our community we can finally achieve our dream of introducing new sensory dimensions to virtual reality!” said Gary Mostovoy, President and CEO of Feelreal, Inc. in a statement.

As we reported on last week, FeelReal is designing individual masks for various VR headsets, such as the Oculus Rift and PSVR, to imitate real-world scents to increase immersion within virtual environments. As of this writing, the FeelReal Kickstarter campaign has raised almost $77,00, with 29 days left in the campaign. The company plans to ship the masks in August 2019 for backers, with their online store going live for everyone else at a later date. Though FeelReal admittedly has an uphill battle with adoption, the success thus far for their Kickstarter proves that VR consumers will support the ventures that they want to see happen.
