Following the 2017 release of the “Star Wars: Jedi Challenges” augmented reality (AR) headset, Lenovo and Disney appear to be planning on releasing new hardware themed after Marvel based off of a recent FCC filing.

The filing details controllers for a “Mirage 1.5” device, suggesting that it’s still part of the Lenovo’s AR headset brand (which in and of itself likely uses design inspirations from Sony’s PSVR headsets). The filing also notes a “standalone Marvel controller” and “Marvel package.” At launch of “Star Wars: Jedi Challenges” in late 2017, Disney advanced development VP Mike Goslin already suggested that the two companies may eventually bring other Disney franchises to the headset as well.

Based off of this information, it seems that Disney and Lenovo may release Marvel-themed controllers to anyone who already owns the “Star Wars: Jedi Challenges” headset, and that those people can just download the new Marvel experience. As for which Marvel properties that could be in play, the buzz around Iron Man VR or the recent success of Captain Marvel could prompt for entertaining, stand-alone AR experiences.
