On top of a slew of announcements at World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) this year, Apple revealed their long-awaited update to their Mac Pro, coming out later this fall. To get a sense of what it would be like to have the $5,999 behemoth in your office, Apple is providing an augmented reality (AR) preview for free. To launch the experience, you need to open the Mac Pro page on Apple’s website on Safari using an iPhone or iPad.

Apple aimed their latest Mac at creatives working on intense projects, with the $5,999 entry-level configuration featuring an eight-core Xeon processor, 32GB of RAM, a Radeon Pro 580X graphics card and a 256GB SSD. The Pro Display XDR alone will cost $4,999 for professional colorists who need accurate colors and high brightness, with Apple claiming that the display can maintain 1,000 nits “indefinitely” thanks to advanced cooling from the cheese grater design.

The 2019 Mac Pro has been met with criticism online, mostly aimed at the Pro Display XDR’s stand, which will cost $999 on its own – even the crowd at the conference audibly laughed at the announcement. The price tag has been the source of countless memes online, with YouTuber jacksfilms producing a concise song about it.

That said, this experience adds onto Apple’s further commitment to AR at WWDC 2019, with ARKit 3 bringing a slew of new features for developers.
