Google is partnering with various makeup companies to try out a new web experience for customers searching for their products. Users can simply Google search the makeup they are looking for and select products will have an option to try it on virtually. Shoppers can then click the button to open the front camera and select the various shades to view how it would look on their faces.

This type of ease of visualization through XR is important as more consumers move away from traditional in-store shopping towards buying directly online. In light of the past year of reduced in-store shopping numbers, offering customers the ability to try out products at home can greatly improve sales. Virtual try-on can result in fewer returns of products to the store, greater customer satisfaction, and overall improvement to the online shopping experience.

For consumers or prospective businesses looking to see the tech in action, various brands such as Maybelline, MAC Cosmetics, and NARS Cosmetics are available but one surefire search result is “L’Oreal’s Infallible Paints Metallic Eyeshadow”.
