VRChat, one of the most popular social virtual reality (VR) applications, recently hosted Virtual Market 6, the world’s largest VR expo. The event united content creators and large corporate sponsors who sought exposure from over a million attendees who joined the festivities.

Corporate sponsors ranging from HP, Disney+, and Viveport had booths, as well as more independent companies such as DecaGear, who showcased their latest headset while taking preorders at their booth.

There were 6 unique world hubs to visit with plenty of activities to do inside each of them. Throughout the 2 week event, special activities such as live concerts, minigames, and guest appearances from artists were scheduled.

The previous Virtual Market 5, hosted at the beginning of the year, was showcased 74 corporate booths and over 1,100 content creator booths that were selling their user-created avatars and creations.

Users could join the event on the PC version of VRChat. A headset was not needed as users could still join with a traditional display, either web or mobile as well as through VR headsets. Users would simply open the application and search for Virtual Market on the world search. With over a million visits at the previous Virtual Market 5, and the ability to buy products ranging from digital avatars to physical headsets, the virtual economy described by works such as Ready Player One has become more of a reality.

While this particular event may have passed, there is still much to experience by visiting the VR Market 6 site.
