A representative from VRGO has clarified that the Super Early bird price for the Mini on Kickstarter will be £119 ($145.65). For the general release of the Mini, the price will be £299 ($365.95) with Haptics and £269 ($329.23) without Haptics. The original article is as follows.

VRGO Ltd., a UK-based virtual reality (VR) company who aims to create smart devices compatible with VR systems, announced they will launch their second product for VR locomotion product, the VRGO Mini, on Kickstarter next Tuesday, August 27th. Known for their VRGO Chair release, the VRGO team will be offering VR users a compact version of their tried and tested chair in the form of the VRGO Mini.

“The Mini is a gaming chair accessory, fitting between the player and their chair to enjoy intuitive and comfortable seated movement or PC and standalone VR HMDs, connecting wirelessly via Bluetooth,” said Joe Ryan, CEO of VRGO. “We’ve taken our time to build the software capabilities, recently launching our native SteamVR driver that has been tested for compatibility with all new VR HMDs being launched in 2019. Now is the right time for our team to reveal the Mini.”

VRGO claims that the Mini will feature the ability to immerse players in the experience as they control their in-game movement, leaning in the direction they want to travel through analog input. VRGO aims to make the Mini compatible with most VR headsets and games, connecting quickly over Bluetooth to a wide array of HMDs. The company specifically notes Oculus Quest, Oculus Rift, Oculus GO, HTC Vive/Pro, Pimax, Valve Index, and Microsoft Mixed Reality. As for the cost of the Mini, VRGO says that it will be “priced affordably,” but no specific price point has been made public. Considering that the VRGO Chair retails for £299 (about $360), the company is likely aiming for £199 or lower.

Though the Mini is primarily aimed towards gamers, the versatile design of the controller is also noted by VRGO to be used within enterprise, as well. The Mini’s aesthetics could fit in just as well within an office as it would a living room. VRGO Ltd. launched a Kickstarter campaign in 2015 for their VRGO Chair, which have been distributed worldwide since shipment began in 2017. They are turning to the crowdfunding platform again, this time, for their second product, hoping to distribute finalized models to backers in 2020.

While the field of Kickstarter campaigns are always a gamble, this year has proven to be good for VR products, namely the VR scent mask FeelReal. The company smashed their $20,000 goal on Kickstarter within one hour. The campaign ended at $140,794 raised on Kickstarter with an additional $31,387 raised on IndieGoGo, with the total funding being $172,181. If a niche product like FeelReal was able to secure crowd-sourced funding, a more versatile product like the Mini should see similar success.
