Mark Cheben, Global Marketing Director for EON Reality, discusses their unique AVR Platform and how augmented and virtual reality can solve problems facing the modern workforce. The following is a transcript of our interview with him.

3E: Can you tell us a bit about you and the company you’re here to represent?

MC: My name is Mark Cheben. I’m the Global Marketing Director for EON Reality, and we’re an AR/VR software company that focuses on a software service platform called the AVR Platform that helps companies and educational institutions deliver VR and AR training, and educational content directly to their students or trainees.

3E: What makes the AVR Platform unique?

MC: The uniqueness of our platform comes from the fact that we have this deep rooted experience with Fortune 500 companies, and our ability to kind of cut through the noise and know what these companies are looking for has been a huge part of our success, and we’ve taken that and baked it directly into our AVR Platform.

By integrating that all together, we create a very streamlined approach that enables companies to spend time on the subject matter and their expertise rather than hiring teams of content developers to build their applications out. There’s a big focus now on really how do you scale VR or an AR implementation, and how do you get it to achieve business goals.

There’s a lot of players in the marketplace that create very beautiful experiences, but how do you go beyond that? How do you scale it? And that’s one of the things that I’ve been hearing a lot from people. Not just at VRX, but in our kind of our day-to-day job.

3E: Can you provide a specific use case example?

MC: So one of the major implementations we’ve done is with a ramp handling and logistics company in Singapore called SATS. They used augmented reality headsets from Vuzix together with our software and platform to deliver on-demand contextual information to folks in the field loading cargo on to aircraft, and the whole purpose of this was really to move them away from paper, and move towards continuously recorded information to just improve what they were doing.

And so moving to a digital AR platform they were able to really improve how the procedure went, but also you know get that real-time communication going between people in the field and the control room, and it was just a great implementation overall. We actually won an award in Singapore for this project from an innovation award that went through, I believe, the government.

3E: So what have you seen at VRX that excites you and why?

MC: So it was a really powerful project and something that we look on doing more in the future. So I’m speaking on a panel on VR, AR, and the future of training, knowledge retention, on-boarding, and industry. It’s one of those challenges as so many people are leaving the workforce and retiring, and how do you replace someone with 30 years of experience in your operation? So typically, it takes several years to get people up to speed. If we can use experiential technologies like AR and VR, can we upscale them faster? And our experience, and the results from our implementations show that you absolutely can.

And so I’m really excited to talk together with these experts and leaders in the industry about how their solutions and how their practices have worked, but also explain the successes that EON Reality has had in the results of the projects that we’ve done.
