Virgina Governor Ralph Northam announced that 16 high schools in the state will receive grants to spend on technical education upgrades, with Robert E. Lee High School in Staunton, Virginia, deciding to spend it on an augmented reality (AR) lab.

“Delivering this instruction in this new innovative way helps students work toward those industry credentials and transition into the workforce where that technology is already being used,” said Cassie Farrish, Secondary Instructional Supervisor for Staunton City Schools.

The school was awarded $37,500 in funding for the lab, with the aim of providing students with specialized equipment to develop AR skills.

“Technology is ever-changing, and our career and technical education programs must have the up-to-date equipment necessary to prepare Virginia students for the jobs of tomorrow,” said Gov. Northam.
